GREETINGS

Welcome and Thank You for following your path which for some reason has led us to here and now.

Memories of late 90's / early 2000's angst I experienced while discovering a proper way to answer the "call" I'd always felt coming from some type of core compelling force predicting a future that included involvement with New York fashion & Hollywood showbusiness.

Initially I thought it was myself who wanted to be in the spotlight to fulfill that creative expressive force that desired to be "known", to impact others and be appreciated/respected.  However the spotlight was not for me.  As a striving male model who was at least conceptually interested in acting as well, it was such a non-relaxing experience ... the entire thing... that I picked up a camera instead.

After this the stars began to align in a new way for me and I was mentored by several special people both in reality and also via books that were published by photographers in London and Santa Barbara.  Both were portrait photographers who had an edgier more eye-catching twist to their work.  Those were the film days (2001) for me and  upon learning about various cool techniques such as cross-processing slide film I began developing connections with local photo labs so that they knew the look I was going for.  Shooting black & white images using Ilford XP2 and Neopan 1600 was a fun thing too and once digital came around I was always happy when everything came together so that the end result was more like a "film" look.  Those were the days of training real-time "on the job" and occasionally spending more than I would make just to pay for the film to be processed.  So I'm thankful for the natural eye the Creator gave me and for interested customers who liked my work.

Then one day it's like I woke up and connected the dots realizing that passion for the art of photography can become so clouded when the hustle gets to be about something other than simply making art.  Each person I photograph is like a living, moving, breathing art Masterpiece and using light and glass (lens) I get to translate how I see them in the immortal Now.  Obviously there are sometimes pressures of specific parameters or deadlines depending upon who I am photographing and those types of gigs are not opportunities that I always avoid / decline.

It is a natural high wrapping up a session then thinking over how great a gift it is to have a great shoot with a great person / people ... to have been given the high honor of "documenting" one's unique individual character & Personhood.

To be allowed within your energy field as the purposeful Observer  I am always amazed.  N2 the universal grand master orchestra of quantum strings I sing that it really is an honor.

-Josh
